Bringing eight agencies together in a cohesive workplace designed for growth.

As one of the UK’s fastest-growing independent digital agencies, IDHL needed a workspace that could combine its multiple brands, reflect its new identity, and accommodate the evolving needs of its employees, visitors, clients, and future talent.

Making space for growth

After acquiring eight agencies under its umbrella, IDHL had outgrown its existing office, which consisted of rows of desks and a small social area. To mark this new chapter, IDHL needed a workplace that would support its future ambitions and empower its digital experts to deliver exceptional results for its clients.

We worked with IDHL to choose a new office and deliver a flexible hub that enables its three divisions – intelligence, performance and web & eCommerce – to embrace new work patterns, build on its success, bring people together, and inspire a sense of pride.

Identifying what works, and what doesn’t

The consultancy phase helped identify what was working and what wasn’t. The echoing message during stakeholder interviews was: “Please don’t change our location.”

This feedback guided us to select a larger space within the same building, both to minimise disruption and create an environment better aligned with IDHL’s growth strategy.

Giving staff choice in how they work

This energetic workplace supports activities from focused work and private calls to socialising and knowledge-sharing.

It includes a podcast room, business lounge, dedicated wellbeing area, phone booths, and a range of meeting rooms for both informal conversations and large formal gatherings.

“I think we’ve achieved Utopia, and I’m absolutely delighted.”

– Julie Davey-Wood, Director of Group Sales Operations at IDHL

Pride and belonging

From the moment clients and employees step into the bright, airy entrance, they are greeted by a striking display featuring an illuminated IDHL logo. Throughout the office, we used soft curves, for a gentle, inviting flow. Homely touches, such as a fireplace, soft furnishings, and planting, were thoughtfully integrated to create a sense of calm and belonging.

Balancing privacy and connection

The new office is designed to support both focused and team work. The quieter zones provide dedicated spaces for concentration, relaxation and private meetings, while collaborative areas encourage socialising, knowledge-sharing and team gatherings. To enhance privacy, we integrated acoustic baffles that offer soundproofing while complementing the overall aesthetic.

“It’s been really great to see how excited everyone is to come into the office more and be with their teams. We’ve got more spaces for collaboration, a big social space, more meeting rooms, single-person phone pods and the ability to book desks and work as a team.”

– Mike Sprot, Chief Financial Officer at IDHL

A workplace that can evolve

Flexibility and adaptability were key to enabling the space to effortlessly transform in alignment with IDHL’s growth strategy.

The large boardrooms are fitted with retractable walls so staff can easily switch between set-ups for training, events, or larger group meetings. Modular furniture adds to this flexibility, allowing teams to rearrange the space to suit anything from formal meetings to casual team huddles.

To accommodate IDHL’s growing demand for Teams calls and seamless connection across locations, there are now tech-enabled meeting spaces so staff can connect with remote teams and clients with ease.

“It feels like a new era.”

– Sophie Gilrain-Grice, Key Partnerships Director (Performance Division) at IDHL

A bold step in IDHL’s growth journey

IDHL’s new workspace represents a major step forward in the company’s growth, serving as both a central hub for 180 staff in Leeds and a connection point for 400 employees across all its locations.

This transformation highlights IDHL’s commitment to its people and clients, and offers a workspace that embodies the company’s identity and values.

We’re pleased to continue this relationship with IDHL as we deliver similarly forward-thinking workspaces in Manchester, Harrogate and London.
