TSK has recently completed the design and furnishing of the new Divisional Police Headquarters for Greater Manchester Police in Bury. The building will be home to circa 300 people.
The Dunster Road building is less than 300 yards from the birthplace of the founder of the modern police service, Sir Robert Peel.
The new police HQ will be open 24 hours a day all year round.
Chief Superintendent Jon Rush, Bury's divisonal commander, welcomed civic dignitaries at an opening ceremony. They were joined by Detective Constable Mike Kennedy, who joined the force 40 years ago, and long-serving civilian worker Pamela Barlow.
The new station, funded by Greater Manchester Police Authority, includes modern facilities and ecological innovations. Rainwater will be stored and used to wash vehicles and flush toilets.
Chief Supt Rush said, "The new HQ is a tremendous facility that will help officers and staff in their everyday work in tackling offenders and making our borough a safe and pleasant place for people to go about their business."
"Though I am sure that some officers and staff will be a little sad about leaving the old building after having worked there for many years I know that everyone is excitied and looking forward to working in our new headquarters."
